Cedardale member and long time tennis player Denise Galvin has exciting news! Her nephew Ben Willwerth, age 17 of Jupiter, FLA was the runner-up in the recent Australian Open Junior Division!
Ben started playing tennis at the age of 4 progressing through the USTA Junior Development program with the various compression balls and adjusted racquets. He success lead him to playing tournaments throughout the United States and then Internationally. Ben has spent time practicing with several pros on tour including Venus Williams and Reilly Opelka.
After receiving a wild card to the U.S. Open and exiting in the first round, Ben entered the Junior Australian Open unseeded. Ben beat 3 seeded players on route to the finals. Congrats Ben for making it to your first Grand Slam Junior Finals!
Ben will be playing in the upcoming French Open, Wimbledon and US Open Junior Divisions this year and will enter Arizona State University in the Fall joining his brother Finn on the ASU tennis team.
